February 11 – The short track speed skating competition at the Beijing Winter Olympics was hotly contested.Traditional powerhouse South Korea has suffered numerous refereeing calls and has won only one gold medal in the men’s 1,500 meters, won by Hwang Dae-hun.Choi Min-jeong, the Korean women’s short track speed skater, told reporters that she would compete for the gold medal without worrying about judges favoritism.Choi, 23, won gold in the women’s 1,500m and 3,000m relay at the last Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.She also won 14 gold MEDALS at world Championships and is currently the leader of the Korean women’s short track speed skating team.In a recent interview, Choi min-jeong said she will make thorough preparations for possible collisions and ice problems during the competition.She revealed that many competitors, including herself, had crashed in the final corner and she would be extra careful.Choi Min-jeong will go for South Korea’s second gold medal in short track speed skating when the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the women’s 1,000m are held on Feb 11.Hwang dae-heon won the first gold medal of the Beijing Winter Olympics for South Korea in the men’s 1,500-meter event.Hwang was ruled out of the men’s 1,000m final after being paired with China’s Ren Ziwei and Li Wenlong in the semi-finals.After the game, Hwang said he skated cleanly and flawlessly, and it was up to the referee to decide what to do.”It taught me a lesson and helped me develop a strategy where no one could pick on me.””Mr. Hwang said.On The evening of February 11, Hwang dae-heon will compete in the men’s 500-meter heat and will compete in group 6.The Chinese short-track team sent Wu Dajing, Ren Ziwei and Sun Long to compete. Sun Long competed in the same group with Liu Shaoang, a Chinese Hungarian.
