North Korea has test-fired its Hwasong-12 surface-to-surface medium and long range ballistic missile


Pyongyang, January 31 (Xinhua) — Jiang YapingThe DEMOCRATIC People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) conducted an acceptance test of its Hwasong-12 surface-to-surface medium and long range ballistic missile on Wednesday, the KCNA reported on January 31.The launch was planned by the DPRK’s Academy of National Defense Sciences and the Second Economic Committee to test the Hwasong-12 surface-to-surface medium and long range ballistic missile and fully confirm the accuracy of the weapon system, the report said.Considering the safety of neighboring countries, the Academy of Defense Sciences conducted a test launch from the northwestern region of north Korea into the east sea using the maximum high-angle launch mechanism, and released images of the earth taken by a camera mounted on the missile’s warhead, the newspaper said.Since January 5, the DPRK has conducted two hypersonic missiles, one rail-mobile tactical missile, one tactical missile launch, one long-range cruise missile and one surface-to-surface tactical missile test.
